Kerala Sans Sanju Samson, Oman President Xi, EX-Mi Bowler bags Four Small Doors

There is just no shortage of cricket action for Indian players. While the IPL 2025 is going on, some of the cricketers who missed out on league berths, are participating in a series in Oman. To be precise, the Kerala team is on a tour to Oman, and started it on a winning note at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat on Monday.

Rohan Kunnummal, MD Nidheesh Star for Kerala

The Mohammed Azharudden-led side won by four wickets vs the Oman Chairman’s XI side. After batting first, the hosts went on to score a massive 326 in their stipulated 50 overs, with captain Jatinder Singh and Aamir Kaleem scoring big. Having said that, the Kerala side won the match with five balls to spare, with opener Rohan Kunnummal scoring a blazing ton, followed by fifties from Salman Nizar and Shoun Roger.

Kunnummal was exceptional with 122 from just 109 deliveries slamming 12 fours and 9 sixes in his innings. Nizar was equally good with 91-ball 87 and, while Roger scored 56 from 48 deliveries. It must be noted that the Kerala team was also helped by 17 extras as well.

Jatinder Singh Slams 150 for Oman Chairman XI

But it was a day dominated by Oman’s Jatinder, who went on to score 150 from 136 deliveries. Kaleem went on to score 73 from 68. Lower down the order Vinayak Shukla scored a quickfire 29 from 15. Meanwhile, MD Nidheesh was the pick of the bowlers for Kerala, picking up 4/53, while Edhen Apple Tom was great with 4/65.

It is interesting to note, that for obvious reasons, the team played without star batter Sanju Samson, who is the skipper of RR in IPL. Apart from that too, he allegedly had a fallout with the KCA some time back, during the last domestic season.
