The dismissal of Abhishek Nayar from the Indian Team makes a new return, and Rohit Sharma was not consulted before moving.

The task of Abhishek Nayar, one of the Indian team coaching staff, seems to have made a new return because he claims that the Indian captain was not consulted before the movement in a report.
The sacking of Abhishek Nayar has just created a lot of upheaval, it seems. First, there were reports that there was a rift in the Indian team over the sacking of ex-batting coach, and now, it seems skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t consulted before the big step was taken. The team’s batting was under heavy scrutiny when they lost twin series’ against New Zealand and Australia, where Rohit and Virat Kohli weren’t at their very best.
Abhishek Nayar Departure Raises Many Questions
Now, a report in Dainik Jagran says that Rohit was not asked for his opinion over Nayar’s issue. But he was consulted when his appointment was made in 2024, after the end of the T20 World Cup. What is interesting to note is, Rohit went out of his way to thank the coach, who has now joined KKR again, after he smashed his first fifty of the IPL 2025, against CSK.
Rohit Sharma Wasn’t Kept in Loop?
Having said that, Team India seems to have moved on already. Sitanshu Kotak has come in place of Abhishek Nayar. Just revisiting Indian batters’ performance in the Australia series; only Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to get some runs under his belt. In 5 matches he scored 391 runs at an average of 43.
Virat Kohli, despite getting a ton at Perth, could only manage to scored 190 runs overall in the series. Rohit was throughout poor, where he scored 31 runs in 3 matches at an average of 6 only.
