BCCI implies 94 expanded matches with IPL. Reports make a big claim about new teams

IPL President Arun Dhumal said that BCCI seriously thought of expanding the league to a 94 -game house and a format from the next media rights cycle falling in 2028. I was discussing in -house in BCCI, in relation to the franchise jack and the T20 jack in terms of bilateral and ICC events.

“Ideally, we will ask for a larger window or to continue between 74 to 84 or 94 at some point.

The growing IPL was talked about in 84 matches for the ongoing season, but it was delayed due to strict timing. “Considering the windows and commitments we have about bilateral crickets and ICC events. However, considering the landscape, we look at how it changes and develops over the years, perhaps at some point and look at this option.”

“There was a lot of crickets: We returned from Australia from a test series, we had this champion cup and we have this IPL. So it was decided that it was not meaningful from going to 84 (2025), but when we think that time is an opportunity, we will get this call, Dh Dhumal added.

Dhumal also announced that there is no plan to promote new IPL teams. “Ten is a good number for now. Paramount is the interest of the tournament and the quality of cricket we play.

Dhumal signed by stating that IPL has a championship for the first time this year. Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have not yet won an IPL cup and have a strong debate to enter the playoffs.

“It grows every year. We are very pleased with how fans love this tournament, and the broadcast numbers and the numbers in the stadium are extraordinary. We hope to continue this a special pressure, 18th edition. We are sure that it will continue to grow in the last 17 years.”

“Certainly, I would not want someone who has never won the tournament to remove the cup this year. DC has performed very well for the last few years, but they did not win. Punjab Kings made it to a finals and RCB, closed and continued.”

“Some of these teams compete against each other in the final, we will make sure we will have a new winner, then I will be very happy for the tournament.”
