Utah Hockey Club officials refused to confirm that the team would be recognized as Utah Mamut after allegedly leaked on Tuesday night.

According to an ESPN report, the name of the team’s official Youtube channel was briefly changed to @utahhockeyclub @utahmammoth. The screenshots of the fans became viral and the channel was then disabled.

Utah completed his HC opening season at SALT Lake City.

Fans in Delta Center voted for a new name for Arizona Coyotes Franchise, which was moved this season. Mamut was reported to be one of the three finalists with Utah Outlaws and Status quo, Utah Hockey Club.

Mike Maughan, the manager of team owner Smith Entertainment Group, told ESPN on Wednesday morning, “continues to discover all three names chosen by our fans as a finalist.” He said. He continued: “Before the 25-26 NHL season, we are on the road to declare a permanent name and identity and we look forward to sharing with our fans when we do this.”

Maughan, who puts pressure on the leak, repeated his previous comment. “We are completely on the road to declare a permanent name and identity before the 25-26 NHL season.”

League sources told ESPN that Utah HC will reveal its new name and logo before 2025 NHL draft on June 27-28.
