PWHL selects Seattle for the second expansion team

The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced Seattle as the second expansion city on Wednesday.
PWHL expanded its basis in the Northwest Pacific after selecting Vancouver to join the circuit last week.
In 2025-26, existing league members will join Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ottawa and Toronto.
According to more than one report, there are plans to add the ninth and 10th teams for the 2026-27 season.
The new team announced on Wednesday that it will start as PWHL Seattle. Team colors are emerald green and cream, and the team will play in Seattle Kraken’s climate pledge Arena.
“Seattle is an amazing sports city and the passion for the women’s play from the first hand,” Kramen Holloway said. He said. “We are also proud to enlarge the Hockey game … And together we will continue to inspire the new generation hockey players and fans.”
PWHL still results in plans for an expansion draft for Vancouver and Seattle.
Launched in 2024, PWHL belongs to Mark Walter, owner of Los Angeles Dodgers, and his wife Kimbra.
