IPL 2025, Summer of young people! Ayush Mhatre 3rd Fifty Golce joined the smallest, Vaibhav Syriavanshi

Suresh Raina broke the record for the youngest player to hit a fifty IPL for CSK. Now, Ayush belongs to Mhatre.

Ayush Mhatre was born a year before the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played in 2008. The league has reached its adulthood, 18 years. But Mhatre will have to wait another two months. Even before he becomes an adult, Mhatre has broken the record for the youngest to score a fifty for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the third in the all-time IPL list.

Ayush Mhatre takes Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the cleaners

Mhatre would have been the centre of attention if not for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old holds the record for being the youngest to score a fifty+ score in IPL and T20 history. And both have done something similar. Suryavanshi took Ishant Sharma to the cleaners, scoring 30 runs off his over. Mhatre did the same to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, taking him for 26 runs.

Mhatre didn’t score a 17-ball fifty like Suryavanshi but reached the milestone in just 25 balls. Given that CSK needed 214 runs to claim just their 3rd win of the IPL 2025 season, his half-century was essential. And to do that at just 17 makes it even more special.

The IPL 2025 season has turned out to be the summer of teenagers. These are future stars. MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are reaching the ends of their careers. And Mhatre and Suryavanshi seem to be ready to take over, despite being more than 20 years younger.
