Although they had the chance to win the draft lottery at a rate of 3.5 percent, the New York Islanders provided the number 1 at the 2025 NHL Draft on Monday.

For the first time, they will have the best general choice since they have prepared John Tavares in 2009 for the fifth time in 2009. “Hockey gods smiled at us,” he said in the lottery. “And I can't tell you how excited I am for the entire island's organization, for our entire islands.

He continued: “Adding the tradition of the islanders. A great fan base, a new arena, great property and better days here.”

This year's draft will be held on June 27-28 in Los Angeles. The first day will take place in the first round, then 2nd day will watch 2-7 rounds.

The Utah won the drawing for election number 2, but the rules stated that a team could rise up to 10 points, so that the franchise jumped from 14th to number 4.

Completing the first 10 will be Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken, Buffalo Sabres and Anaim Ducks.
