Report: Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao comes out of retirement

On Thursday, ESPN reported that the boxing legend Manny Pacquiao was planning to end the retirement and return to the ring against Mario Barrios in Las Vegas on July 19.

46 -year -old Pacquiao will fight for the first time since he unanimously decided to Yordenis Ugas in 2021.

The fight will be for Barrios’ Wlterweight championship belt. Barrios is 30 years old on May 18th.

Pacquiao is a eight -part champion planned to be included in the Boxing Honor List in June. It has been reported that it will officially announce its return to boxing next week. The report said that Pacquiao was cleared by the Nevada State Athletics Commission to compete.

In recent years, Pacquiao has focused on his political career in the Philippines.

The boxer nicknamed “Pacman” has a record of 62-8-2 with 39 knockout during his career. In 1998, he won the first largest title – WBC Flyweight Crown.

Pacquiao was 54-3-2 before he was 33 and 8-5 years old. One of these losses, in 2015, unanimously decided Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Barrios (29-2-1, 18 knockout) last November against Abel Ramos 12 rounds, a divided stable lottery fought. This will be the third defense since he defeated Ugas in 2023 and won the title.
