Boston Celtics Guard Jrue Holiday was elected as the 2024-25 NBA Social Justice Champion on Wednesday.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will receive a donation of $ 100,000 from the league for the Cup and Foundation.

According to a league statement, Holiday, who won the NBA’s Sportmanship Award for the second time last week, was one of the five finalists chosen for the second time last week to “maintain social justice and gain equality, strengthening and guiding Abdul-Jabbar’s historically disadvantaged individuals and groups.

Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund distributed 5.3 million dollars of grants and gave more than 400 hours of coaching and supporting approximately 200 businesses throughout the USA

Mark Tatum, NBA commissioner and chief business officer, said, “Since he entered the League, Jrue Holiday has devoted himself to helping others when they needed the greatest and to maintain a more fair society for everyone.” He said. “Defining the game is even more pronounced that he and his wife Lauren do more than a generation of ignored a generation of youth.”

The JLH Fund was founded when the holiday committed $ 5 million of the 2020 NBA salary to combat systemic racism and economic injustice.

The 34-year-old holiday joins the previous winners Carmelo Anthony, Reggie Bullock, Stephen Curry and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Other finalists were Bam Adebayo of Miami Heat, Harrison Barnes of San Antonio Spurs, Chris Boucher of Toronto Raptors and CJ Mc McCollum from New Orleans Pelicans.
