In a latest development, the BCB on Saturday clarified that they will travel to UAE for the two T20Is, but no decision has been taken on the Pakistan tour of five T20Is, as per a report in Cricbuzz. The ECB had announced that they will play their matches on May 17 & 19 at 7 pm local time. Post that, the Pakistan matches were supposed to be held from May 25 to June 3.
Now, with IPL and PSL getting deferred, BCB is yet to take a call. The BCB directors met at the National Cricket Stadium to discuss the next action. “As part of its continued commitment to international engagement and preparation, the Bangladesh National Team will tour the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a two-match T20 International series against the host nation as scheduled. The series is set to commence next week,” BCB said in a statement.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in active and ongoing discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the Bangladesh National Team’s forthcoming tour of Pakistan.
“The BCB wishes to reiterate that the safety and security of its players and support staff remain the Board’s highest priority. All decisions concerning the tour will be made with careful consideration of the current situation in Pakistan, ensuring they align with the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket,” it added.
Earlier, two Bangladeshi players — Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana had safely returned home — who were in Pakistan, plying their trade in the PSL X. In fact, Rishad had opened up on the frightening encounter in Pakistan.“After landing in Dubai, we heard that a missile struck the airport 20 minutes after we took off. The news was scary as well as sorrowful,” he revealed. “My family spent sleepless nights. They were worried about the bomb blasts and missile strikes. I had to constantly assure them I was safe.”
