Rockies Fire Manager Bud Black

Colorado Rockies dismissed Bud Black on Sunday and is in the midst of one of the worst beginnings in Major League history.

Bench coach Mike Redmond was left by Colorado. The third basic coach Warren Schaeffer was elected temporary manager for the rest of the season.

The announcement arrived only a few minutes after Rockies’ won against San Diego Padres on Sunday. The win raised Colorado’s record to 7-33 and stopped a losing line of eight games.

The movement comes a day after Padres directs Colorado 21-0.

Black was in the ninth season with Rockies. He went 544-690 with the club and directed Colorado to playoffs both in 2017 and 2018. However, Rockies lost more than 100 matches of the last two seasons before the weakness of this year.

“This season, so far, especially in the last two seasons, is unacceptable. Our fans deserve better and do better.” He said. “While we all share responsibility for how this season is played, these changes are required. We will use the rest of 2025 to improve where we can do in the field and evaluate all the areas of our operation, so that we can properly convert the page into the next part of the Rockies baseball.

Rockies lost 94, 103 and 101 matches in the last three seasons. On Sunday, Zafer prevented them from matches with 1988 Baltimore Orioles (6-34) for the worst of the worst of Major League history.
