Rajat Patidar is fined for the mistakes of Jitesh Sharma; Cummins also violates IPL’s rules of behavior

Although the RCB is the second slow rate, Cummins was first fined in IPL 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added salt to the already-hurting wounds of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). For Jitesh Sharma’s mistakes, Rajat Patidar has to bear the brunt, as the IPL has fined the “permanent” RCB captain, Patidar, for slow over-rate in RCB’s recent loss against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Meanwhile, SRH captain Pat Cummins has also been fined.
IPL’s media advisory read:
“Royal Challengers Bengaluru designated captain Rajat Patidar has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during Match No. 65 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.”
“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”
“Pat Cummins, Captain, Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined INR 12 Lakh.”
