Team Updates

This robot dog can be the most cool technology from shooting players in IPL 2025 to playing with them.

This year, IPL 2025 production made an exciting return with the introduction of a robotic dog that could walk, run, jump, jump and even stop, just like a real dog. There is also a camera mounted on it. The robotic dog was announced in a video published by Danny Morrison’s official IPL X (formerly called Twitter) account.

In the video, he plays with players from teams such as robot dog, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. It even makes a heart emojis. Now, this robotic dog is part of the Tata IPL broadcast team.

This is becoming better and more advanced in sports broadcasting. Cricket, F1, basketball and football in football games are changing. Thanks to the new technology, such as better cameras, advanced graphics, ball monitoring and better quality video, the scope of sports is now more detailed and interesting than ever.

However, the article did not explain the full camera features of the robotic dog. To understand this, we analyzed the video and found it here.

Here is what we observe about the robotic dog camera and what they bring to production

If you watch the video closely, you will see that the robotic dog is mostly playing with players like Hardik Pandya and Delhi Capitals Captain Axar Patel. We see some POV shootings from the camera mounted on a robotic dog.

From our observation, the field of view is quite wide, like an action camera like Gopro, ideal for such shoots. You can see the dog’s training sessions in Nets, the dogs following Hardik Pandya, then Danny Morrison dealt with the usual mascara. These are some of the POV shots seen from the camera -mounted camera. But to a large extent, it remains unclear how effectively the IPL broadcast team will use it and what kind of shots it will be suitable for.

However, if we look at the nature of the video, it will probably be used to film the behind -the -stage moments, and will offer unique perspectives that may result in unique content, taking into account the low height of a standard camera operator, especially the dog.

The camera looks stabilized using a small gimbal

From a technical point of view, close -up of the robotic dog and the installed camera show that the camera itself is quite small. It seems to be assembled in a Gimbal -like structure. Although it is difficult to verify whether it is a real gimbal, the installation is like an organization that is necessary for stabilized, unbeated images, especially considering the fixed movement of the dog.

The robotic dog seems to have another camera mounted on the head, it was probably used to help him navigate and become aware of his environment.
