Ashwin Stops the common panelist Dhoni, his speech about CSK

Ravichandran Ashwin is hell bent on not bringing up CSK or MS Dhoni during his discussions in videos on his YouTube channel. Controversy over discussions on the Super Kings erupted after CSK coach Stephen Fleming was asked about the topics being discussed on the spinner’s YouTube channel. Following that, Ashwin had announced that CSK would no longer be the topic of discussion in his videos.

In a conversation with CSK scout Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan and Rajamani Prabhu, Ashwin had to warn the latter to not speak about Dhoni. Rajamani was mentioning how Thala had seen CSK through to victory in the game against LSG on April 14 when the veteran had to interject.

“I’m so happy that you won the match. Ashwin, the only thing is that you’ve led the team a lot. The team that you’ve led has won the TNPL. What I feel is that leadership is very, very important. That leader is someone like Sanju, someone like Shreyas Iyer, someone like Thala Dhoni,” Rajamani said before Ashwin asked him to not speak about the topic.

The panelist promptly responded that it was Ashwin who could not speak about CSK or Dhoni while his co-panelists could. However, Ashwin maintained that he never spoke about his franchise, referring to the times when he was with RR.

“I’ve never spoken about my team in RR as well,” said Ashwin

Ashwin faced backlash following his decision to share a video by Prasanna Agoram, a former RCB analyst. The video criticized CSK’s strategy of selecting Noor Ahmad over experienced players like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Although Ashwin later removed the video from his channel, the criticism had already sparked considerable debate.

Ashwin’s future in CSK

Meanwhile, Ashwin was left out of CSK’s playing XI in their previous game against LSG. In fact, that was the very match that Dhoni & co. ended their losing streak. After the game, Dhoni mentioned that CSK’s bowling attack looked much better after dropping Ashwin.

The veteran has been quite expensive and ineffective so far in IPL 2025. It remains to be seen if he will find his way back into the playing XI. CSK will take on MI next on April 20.
