After kidnapping the Rangers fire coach Peter Laviolette

One season after finishing New York Rangers’ best record in NHL, the team fired the head coach Peter Laviolette and the assistant coach Phil Housley on Saturday.
Rangers went 55-23-4 (114 points) last season and proceeded to the Eastern Conference final, eliminated by Florida Panthers in a six-game series. New York this season this season 39-36-7 (85 points) went to a playoff point to finish the score.
“We have come to this season with high expectations for ourselves,” Rangers General Manager Chris Drury said in a statement. He said. “Quite simple, we could not meet these expectations. We should all do better – including myself. When going to the next season and beyond, I felt a change to give us the best chance to achieve our goals as an organization.”
Drury said the search for a new head coach started immediately.
Rangers head coach Laviolette broke the record of 60, 94-59-11. Before this season, New York had made three playoff matches in a row, and the Eastern Conference Finals in this race twice.
Rangers has not participated in the Stanley Cup Finals since 2014 and finally won a title in 1994.
Laviolette, who played only in his career in 12 NHL matches, became NHL head coach for 23 seasons in 1988-89 season with Rangers.
New York Islanders (2001-03), Carolina Hurricanes (2003-09), Philadelphia Flyers (2009-14), Nashville Predators (2014-20), Washington Capitals (2020-23) and Rangers 846-562-161 record (25 vineyards).
The 846 Normal season win is among the coaches born in the United States in NHL history and the seventh coaches of all time.
