Ajit Agarkar finally explains what BCCI does when Rohit Sharma stops the test jack

On Saturday, the elective Ajit Agarkar’s president, the leading cricketists Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s test retirement was difficult to fill the gap, but other players hoped to take steps during the UK tour. Rohit announced the first retired from the test jack on May 7, and for a long time his teammate Kohli followed the case on May 12th. “When they retired, the deviation of the crickets … (He’s too big to fill the shoes. But he explained that the shoes were an opportunity to look at others.

Young left hand Sai Sudharsan and experienced Karun Nair were brought to replace two superstar.

Agarkar, Kohli last month, probably after the Champions Cup, announced the desire to leave the test jack.

Ağarkar, “Virat, in early April (BCCI/Election Committee) reached out and felt that he gave everything.

“They left a legacy behind. Obviously, I have chatted with both for the last few months. We saw it (Kohli) that he plays 200 percent. Even when he didn’t hit or on the field.

“He probably felt that he had given everything he had and that he has determined the standards he has set for years and he felt how good he was and perhaps his time.”

After a series of overwhelming trips last year, there were intense speculation surrounding the future of both Kohli and Rohit in traditional format.

The latest example of this wave effort was the Australian tour for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Cup.

It started with a Kohli explosion, made hundreds of hundreds of perth, but rapidly disappeared to end the tour of 190 runs from five tests on average.

Rohit, who joined the side after the first test, was equally impressive and performed only 31 out of five tests in an average of 6.2, as well as avoiding the fifth in Sydney and far from the finals.

Agarkar, “He came for him (and) you should respect it. This respect they gained respect. As all the wonderful players are right for themselves. You should respect it. When you have hundreds of test games (and scores),” Agarkar said.

“It will be difficult to fill. This is an opportunity for someone else. But it shows what to do to succeed at this level.

“This is a new cycle. An opportunity for us to build something for us. But there is no doubt. So you should show them the respect they want instead of speculation. Sometimes a personal call with players. You should respect it.”

So, are the forces trying to persuade Kohli and Rohit to return to the UK tour, taking into account the size of the series? Agarkar was quite clear in the assessment of the situation and said it was a priority to build a new party for the upcoming World Test Championship Cycle (2025-27).

“When someone gets a call (to retire), it’s up to me. Pension is a personal call. This is a new WTC (World Test Championship) cycle and you look at all scenarios to help create a team,” the head coach Gautam Gambhir reiterates his feelings.

There were speculations that Kohli wanted to travel to England for the farewell series, but Agarkar did not go into it, only the decision to move away from the test jack was made entirely by the star dough.

“When someone decides, this is not dependent on us. Our job is to take one. But yes. When someone is over … Two big jacks will be a hole to fill.

“As I said, his performances have shown the amount of games they have gained for India for years. Now the chance of someone else. But we will surely miss them.

“All three of them and here Shami. Again, the test jack was incredible. The four men like this, not part of the team, it will make it a little more difficult, but this is an opportunity for other men.”
