Alex ovalkin Nets OT Winning Capitals Nip Habs

Alex Ovechkin scored two goals, including more overtime to win 3-2 against Montreal Canadiens, who visited Washington Capitals in the 1st game of the Eastern Conference quarter-final series on Monday.

Ovechkin also helped Washington, who led a two -goal in the third period but gathered in an extra session. Anthony Beauvillier finished with a goal and help, and Dylan Strom scored two assists.

Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki scored goals for Montreal with the help of Lane Hutson.

39 -year -old Ovechkin added another emphasis to a magical season, where NHL has crossed Wayne Gretzky as the leader of all time. The serial opener sealed the capital after winning a faceoff in the offensive zone, and Beauvillier found him open in front of the network.

Tallly was a 74th career playoff goal for Ovechkin, who finished the normal season with 897 career goals.

Montreal Netminder Sam Montembeault allowed three goals in 32 shots.

The second game of the best seven series is planned in Washington on Wednesday.
