Rain Delayed the RCB vs PBKS throw in Bengaluru.
The toss for the RCB vs PBKS game was delayed after rains continued to pour in Bengaluru. The inspection was delayed after the drizzles returned, with covers on the surface.
After the initial delay, the umpires and the groundsman entered the pitch for inspection only for drizzle to return. There were little drizzles forming on the covers in the Chinnaswamy Stadium,with fans eager for the Bengaluru weather to ease.
Bengaluru has seen incessant rain over the past week, painting a not so promising picture on the RCB vs PBKS clash on Friday. The local time for cut off is 10:41 PM, with 10:56 pm being the countdown for start of play.
Bengaluru’s sub-air system to the rescue?
Rain delays are common in Bengaluru and the KSCA’s decision to install a sub air system at the venue could prove to be helpful. The Super quick drainage system, could allow for the ground to be match-ready despite continuous rainfall.
The state of the art drainage system is commonly used in football grounds and gold courses to quickly dry the surface and make it conducive for sport. The pipes fitted under the surface allows water to percolate, allowing the surface to drain about a 10,000 litres of water every minute.
Post drainage, the system blows air onto the playing surface, completely drying it. The system allows for play to resume within 30 minutes after stoppage of rain, keeping the hopes of RCB fans alive.
