BCCI & ECB is not sure about the crowd participation in ICC India to fight for the right to host WTC Final 2027

Rose Bowl in Southampton was the oval in Kennington and three places for the Lord’s WTC finals in London.
The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) was interested in hosting the 2027 World Test Championship (WTC) final. The Red Ball Tournament started in 2019 and hosted the UK and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in three finals (2021, 2023 and 2025).
BCCI WTC wants to host Final 2027
The BCCI has been requesting a space change for the WTC final for a while. Then Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and now President of the International Cricket Council (ICC), spoke less than a year. And apparently this could be. During the ICC meeting in Zimbabve, BCCI expressed his desire to host the final last month.
“India expressed his intention to submit a bid for the 2027 finals at a meeting of the Chief Executive Committee in Zimbabwe last month. BCCI is represented by the chief manager Arun Singh Dhumal, while the president of his predecessor Jay Shah ICC will be considered as an official Indian proposal. A report in Guardian.
ECB is also interested
One of the reasons why the UK was the place of the WTC final was the interest in the test cricket in the country. Moreover, other cricket boards were not willing to host the finals when the tournament was initially decided. The ECB wants a quick decision from the ICC, which is not 100% sold in BCCI, which hosts WTC Final 2027.
“Although the ECB did not assume that it will host the WTC final in continuity, the British summer and a powerful domestic ticket market, regardless of which teams make a natural place. ECB pushes for a quick decision, because in 2027, the WTC finale is taken elsewhere, if the WTC will be taken elsewhere. The report has been added.
ICC’s concern about India
One of the reasons why ICC is not fully confident about giving BCCI to the Hosting of the WTC final is due to fear of low crowded participation. Although Britain did not qualify for them, we saw that fans flocked to a large number of fans for the last two finals. ICC thinks that if India is not entitled to the finals, we can see that ticket sales are hit.
“ICC has concerns about taking the WTC final to India, but if India does not qualify, the expectation of bad ticket sales. Next month, the final in Lord’s was sold for the first four days, the 2023 finals in Oval was sold despite the fact that the UK was not included,” The report has been added.
