Brittney Sykes helps Mystics to overcome the dream in the opener

Bittney Sykes produced 22 points and five assists and helped to take Washington Mystics to a 94-90-season victory against Atlanta Dream, who visited Friday.
The rookie added 19 points to Sonia Citron Washington, while Kiki Iriafen had 14 and Sug Sutton 13.
While Allşha Gray made 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Atlanta, Brittney Griner added 18 points and eight boards. Brionna Jones collected 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Rhyne Howard had 11 points and Nia Coffey was carved in 10.
The Atlanta, which remained 87-79 in less than three minutes, was marked by a 8-1 move—point play of Gray’s three-point game, to draw the dream to a point in the 1:20 sign. Sykes then hit a pair of free throws and Jones divided two fouls. After Stefanie Dolson’s Miss, Griner’s Jumper’s game was 34 seconds.
Sykes responded with an order and then rang the ball from Griner. The Citron game ice with two foul shots.
In the first half, Washington opened the third quarter in a 14-7 run and received 55-52 advantages in Citron’s 3-tendency.
Atlanta then kept Washington without points for about four minutes and took a 59-57 edge in the Shaatori Walker-Kimbrough basket. After connecting Iriafen’s medium-range Jumper game, Jones’ breakdown and Gray’s sixth 3-actual dreamer took the lead 66-61.
Washington closed the quarter in a 10-4 run, including Dolson’s closing seconds.
From there, the mystics opened the last quarter in the 9-2 run and kept the dream until the arrangement of Griner’s 6:11 sign. Sutton’s 3-Officers, Griner’s successive arrangements pushed Washington’s leadership to 80-72 before cutting Atlanta’s deficit in four.
Dolson then hit the 3-Bloodist, and Griner replied with a three-point game to leave Washington’s leadership behind 3:28 until 83-79. Sykes and Citron’s baskets were then 2:48.
After 24-20 ahead, the Dream came second in a 12-4 run to get ahead 7:30 and 36-24.
Washington responded with 10-0 moves covered with the trio of Melbourne and Emily Engstler. The arrangement of Sutton with 1:19, Jones’ free throws and Gray’s 3-tendency helped the dream between 45-41 circuits.
