Bumrah wants to be at the La28 Olympics, but “goals do not want to set”

Jasprit Bumrah expressed his desire to be a part of the Indian team when he returned to the Olympics in La in 2028.
India cricket team pacer Jasprit Bumrah has expressed his interest to feature in the LA28 Olympics. Cricket is all set to return to the marquee event after a gap of over 100 years. While the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have retired from T20Is, Bumrah does find himself with the opportunity of taking part in the tournament, provided his body permits.
Bumrah eyes LA28 Olympics
In the Beyond23 Cricket podcast with Michael Clarke, Bumrah explained that he will have to be very judicious on deciding his workload management over the next few years. However, he said that he was looking forward to being a part of the LA28 Olympics.
“Now, I’ve heard there is Olympics in cricket coming. That is something I’m looking forward to. Who would have thought cricket will become an Olympic sport? That is something that is really exciting me and I’m looking forward to whenever I get an opportunity to do so,” Bumrah said.
However, Bumrah admitted that he doesn’t intend to set goals as he has never been able to achieve them in the past. Instead, the pacer stated that he plans to take it one day at a time. He also explained that he would continue as long as his body permits. Bumrah added that the day he felt his body could not offer the drive, he would take a call on his career.
Bumrah returned to action in IPL 2025 after missing the Champions Trophy due to an injury. Being India’s most overworked bowler in the last calendar year, Jasprit picked up a back injury in the 5th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that saw him sidelined for the next 3 months. While he has been named a part of the squad for the England Tests, he is set not to play more than 3 games in that series.
