European captain Anna Nordqvist called Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall for the 2026 Solheim Cup on Monday and the Vice President of Mel Reid in England.
The Biennial competition against the US will take place between 7-13 September 2026 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
35 -year -old Hedwall represented Europe in the Solheim Cup five times. This is his first choice as his captain’s assistant.
“I was very excited when Anna invited me to be one of the captains of the vice president in 2026, because the Solheim Cup certainly provided most of the most important moments of my career.” He said. “Anna and I have shared so many experiences together in both tour and European teams that I feel that we are very aligning how the European team will help the best performance. I think we understand each other with Mel and we are all very feisty competitors, so I am sure that we will work very well together for the good of our team.”
37 -year -old Reid played for Europe in the Solheim Cup four times and became Vice President in 2019 and 2024.
Reid, “Solheim cup is happening, no matter what I want to be there for Europe.” He said. “Some of my most beautiful basic memories are in a Solheim Cup week and in that European team room. I am honored to be one of the captains of Anna.
Swedish 37 -year -old Nordqvist has met both golfers for many years.
“I know Caroline and Mel since the age of 13 and 17, so I enjoyed playing with them for my entire career,” he said. “We had many good memories as teammates and friends, so as a captain in the Netherlands, I am happy to be with them while making a new challenge in our golf career.
In 2024, the US won the latest pressure of the Solheim Cup in Virginia. Angela Stanford will serve as a captain for Americans in 2026.
