Prince Owusi scored a goal alone to visit the CF Montreal with a 1-0 victory against the New York City FC on Saturday and caught the opening of Montreal’s season.
For Montreal (1-8-3, 6 points), the first road victory against New York since 1 August 2015.
The loss was only second this season for New York (5-5-2, 17 points) in six games as a host.
Owusi gave Montreal’s first leadership in the 48th minute. Owusu gathered the ball along the right side of the box and cut it from the inside, stood on the upper side before ignoring a left -foot strike defeating New York goalkeeper Matt Freese.
The target was the third third of the German advanced team, half of Montreal’s total of the campaign.
Nathan Saliba, 51. minutes, a shot on the right side of the box, a shot grazing the cross bar doubled.
