Powerhouse Football Programs Clemson and Notre Dame, starting from 2027, accepted a 12 -game home and home series.
The schools already had games on Clemson in 2027, 2031 and 2037, South Bend, Index for 2028 and 2034.
Notre Dame Athletic Director Pete Bevacqua said on Tuesday, “We are trying to create a football program that positions us for success in the college football playoffa, and this goal requires us to establish historical partnerships with Clemson.” He said. “This competition has produced some of the most memorable moments in the history of the last college football, and our fans deserve these matches to continue to make these indelible memories.”
The two teams met eight times in the past and the tigers won five. In the latest matches, Clemson defeated Notre Dame, who ranked 12th in 31-23 in 2023.
Among the schools that meet Notre Dame at least twice, Clemson is one of the only six programs with a winning record against Fighting Irish.
Clemson or Notre Dame took place in the top 15 before each of the eight previously. Both are in the first 15 times and both in the top five.
“There is an enormous excitement for the creation of this 12 -year series among these two leading programs, because we know that they will be matches for the Memorial Stadium and Notre Dame Stadium and the country -wide television viewers.” He said.
One dozen or more game series is rare.
Clemson had three rivals he played for at least 12 years, the latest Georgia (1973-87). Notre Dame played Michigan in 18 seasons between 2002-19.
The genealogy of each program is not questioned.
Fighting Irish lost to Ohio State in the CFP championship match at the end of the 2024 season, but won 11 national championships and won a total of 962 victory in the history of college football.
Clemson has three national titles and ranks 13th with 808 wins.
