Five people were taken to hospital after a fear accident containing at least four police vehicles on a large road.
Newcastle, a portion of the A1 near Denton, Wednesday, shortly after 2.30 to the north of the main road to the north after many vehicles remain closed in both directions.
Shocking pictures after the scene show four damaged police cars. It is unclear whether a police van at the scene is included.
While a police car was left without a roof and three gates, the others shredded windows and pieces scattered in three strips.
Two black cars, including a BMW, were involved in the accident with one of the mangled engines returning to his side.
National Highways, Junction 73 and 75 roads beyond the rush and until the afternoon is expected to close, ‘complex’ police investigations ‘very serious’ accident, he said.
A Northumbria Police Spokesman said: ‘Today (on Wednesday, a multi -vehicle collision report in the A1 near the Derwent Haugh Road Junction shorter than 2:30 (Wednesday).
Emergency services are currently going on. Part of the road is closed in both directions – there are deviations from the A69 intersection that goes to the south from the Junction of Derwent Haugh.

‘Drivers should use as much alternative ways as possible.’
A North Eastern Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘On Wednesday, April 9 at 2.29 at 2.29 Newcastle, we received a call for a traffic collision reports near A1 near Denton.
‘We sent two teams from our five ambulance team, an expert medical officer, a task officer, dangerous field intervention team (HART) and asked our colleagues in the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAs).
‘Five patients were transferred to the hospital for more treatment.’
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service Postası in X (formerly called twitter): ‘We are currently dealing with an event in A1. The road will be closed in both directions between Scotswood Road and A69 Denton for at least the next 5 hours. ‘
He added the National Highways: ‘It is recommended to drivers in the North East near Newcastle due to a serious collision.
