David Stone reflects the first grade season and the growth to the 2nd year

NORMAN – There is a lot of differences for David Stone Compared to a year ago.

The biggest difference is in his physical appearance. When the former five -star hope came as a real first -year student last spring, it weighing 275 kilos. This spring is a 50-pound difference with 313 pounds. Also, there is a clearer confidence about the application area for Stone, which is now a year under the belt. A more solid in the defense fight rotation.

However, the biggest difference may not be noticed for external viewers.

Stone certainly showed some flashes last season, while playing in a Power 4 program like Oklahoma, he acknowledged that he was fighting everything that came.

During the media existence of Tuesday, “I feel like myself, I had a big problem about allowing my life outside football to affect my football.” He said. “I have dominated many team settings and things like this, but sometimes I could let my body tongue deteriorate, except for football, notes or anything else.

“As a player, I had to learn how to divide these things into sections, to separate them, and how to handle the pressure of external life with football.”

Stone on the field played more than a typical first year. He took part in all 13 matches last season and joined Jayden Jackson He’s the only real first -year student who appears in every game for SOONERS’s defense. The game time was limited, and he wore a player on his arm for most of the season because he finished with a sack in 94 snaps played per six struggle for two losses, two struggles and professional football focus.

However, he still did not produce it as he hoped. However, in this spring, things feel much more balanced.

The first is sure he found his place from the field. In February, he was elected as the SEC Autumn Academic Honor Rulos, which he was proud of. But he found a place to grow on the field. He took big steps in the gravity room with the force coach Jerry Schmidt – Something that is not easy for him – and he devoted himself to the eye -catching parts of football.

Stone, “this year as a player jumped, whether in life or football, I feel that I can rule this field.” He said. “… on the field, this spring is killing it. Winter training was a fun time for me. 15, 20 I am like pounds, I act better than ever. So these things have been a big part of the game so far.”

His teammates also noticed this development.

“Absolutely much more sure,” Ou Defense End Adepoju Adebawore in question. “Absolutely grown, stronger. And you can only see the desire to work. He loves to work. You can see it by wanting to be better. I always want to take a brain with coaches outside football. You see. Developed.”

There is a lot to be excited about Stone’s potential next season. He is part of a defense struggle rotation that boasted with more experience, ability and continuity than any position group in the team. Damonic WilliamsGracen Halton and Jackson. If the stone makes a leap, the interior can really upgrade to new heights.

Stone Credits Defensive Taces Coach Todd Bates With his development.

“I came second in the team in the sacks in the spring. I took the team to the sacks in the autumn camp, the autumn camp. But I let many things except football to affect how I carry myself.” He said. “Regardless of all this, I did better and grew up as a man. Coach Bates was a big role and helped me to be a bigger brother with my family. Very young men here for the team.

Although Stone is sure of growing as a player, he knows that there is a long way to become a player who reaches his potential in autumn. But there is a lot to claim that it is on the right path.

“These talks (with Bates) raised me as an actor,” Stone said. “Many coaches use it as a symbol of my growth (up), it goes in this direction.

“I have grown up, I still have a lot of growth. I’m not a finished product. I definitely see where I came, but I still have a long way.”
