Does Axar Patel deserve to be in the B. class of BCCI’s central contract list?

Axar Patel became one of the most advanced versatile of the Indian team and also rose as the Vice President of the T20I team.
In the last few years, only the versatile Axar Patel has emerged as one of the best players in formats for India, and gradually began to show excellent leadership skills. At the beginning of 2025, T20I was chosen as an assistant captain and DC captain entered his path. This shows that it is only one of the best players in the country.
Rishabh pant in Class A, why not Axar Patel?
However, on Monday, when the BCCI announced the list of central contracts for 2024-25, it was named only with Class B, Syriacumar Yadav, Kuleep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer. Since last year, the only change in class B is Rishabh Pant.
But for what reasons they are wondering. None of these players are not included in the Indian team regularly in all three formats despite the reason. Syria is only regular in the T20Is and the captain there. Then Kuleep is usually outside the test team. Yashasvi doesn’t start his career yet, Rishabh Pant only plays testing regularly. He was ignored even for the Champions Cup and lastly played ODI in August 2024.
Perfect numbers for versatile
Similarly, he played his last match at T20IS in July 2024. On the other hand, Axar was at least a vital member in white ball formats. He played 8 ODI in 2025, where he made an average of 215 runs over 35. These matches also brought eight small gates in a 4.47 modest economy ratio.
Then in T20IS, although it had nothing to do with the bat, it was absolutely good with the ball. In five games, he bought six small gates, where his economy was only 7.07. Finally, let’s look at the test recording – a format he played last in February 2024. In 14 tests, he scored over 646 running over 35 and took 55 small doors.
So, was it really needed to be excluded from class A?
