Watches are moving this weekend – but should the daylight saving be scrapped? | Science, Climate and Technical News

The clocks are moving this market and points to the beginning of the daylight saving period.
This means that the time has jumped to 2 o’clock because the hours return to 01:00 on March 30 – and yes, bad news, you will lose an hour of sleep.
However, the extra daylight will mean longer, lighter evenings longer than next week.
“Bahar Advanced, Fall” has been a part of our calendar for more than 100 years – but whether we continue to apply is being discussed warmly.
But why some people go up so arms about the watches – and why do we do it in the first place?
Here are what you need to know – including how to prepare before the time change this weekend.
Why do we have time to save daylight?
The British summer time (BST) change, also known as daylight saving time (DST), indicates the end of the average time of Greenwich (GMT) in the UK.
It lasts from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October, when the hours return for an hour.
It is a common belief that DST is introduced to help farmers to offer more daylight to work in fields. But that’s not exactly true.
New Zealand Entomologist – someone who examined insects – first campaign for more evening sunlight in the 1890s, so that he could examine his beloved insects. It was seriously proposed to change the clocks around the seasons for the first time.
Jump to 1907, and the British inventor William Willett – the United Kingdom was credited to saving daylight – self -published – a brochure called the waste of daylight, summarized the disappointment of summer days.
Initially, the hours proposed to progress for 80 minutes in four incremental steps in April and reversed the same way in September – but he died before the law was enacted in the UK.
The first country to adopt the DST was Germany during the First World War in 1916. England followed the case a few weeks later.
How does daylight saving affect your health?
Since the implementation of DST and especially in spring, various studies have found that darker mornings and lighter evenings can cause destruction with their bodies.
In fact, sleep and dream researcher Charlie Morley said that the health problems caused by the switch were “overwhelming” evidence.
“What the research shows is a big impact on the body and mind, just an hour. [of sleep] Mr. Morely told Sky News.
In a study specified by the American Heart Foundation, he found a 24% increase in heart attacks on the day following the transition to the transition to daylight – but when the hours returned, the opposite effect was detected in autumn.
Another from 2016 in Finland found that 8% more hospital acceptance for the most common type of stroke in two days after the transition to daylight savings.
Researchers also say that strokes and heart attacks are already at a higher risk.
When asked that symptoms that lose one hour of sleep can cause, Mr. Morely said: “Interestingly, the brain, known as amygdala in four hours or less, is that the horror center of the brain becomes 60% more activated.
“This may seem like everything is annoying, threatening or conflict. So if you lose an hour of sleep, you can see an increase in the amygdala reaction, which you can make you more grumpy and tinnitus.”

Should the daylight savings be scrapped?
The savings or not to save daylight has been a question that has been discussed warmly for years, but in October, when the British Sleep Association called on the United Kingdom to eliminate the clock changes twice a year.
In an article at that time, researchers said that DST should completely eliminate the change of change and rest the standard time throughout the year, due to the negative impact of DST on circus and sleep health.
In fact, according to the Pew Research Center, only one third of the world countries applies daylight saving time.
US President Donald Trump is a Post on real Social last December You want to scrape DST. Foreign Minister Marco Rubio called the “stupid” time -change ritual twice a year.
The European Parliament has previously voted for all EU member states to scrap the DST, but the Parliament and the EU Council never became a law after not getting an agreement on legislation.
One of the few places that do not follow the DST in Europe is Iceland because of its daylight and excessive variations throughout the year.
How to prepare for clock changes and ‘golden rule’ of sleeping
Mr Morley says it is impossible to compensate for missing sleep, but those who are worried before the daylight saving time may be “pre -load sleep”.
This involves getting someone really good, good quality sleep before entering a bad sleep period.
Exposing yourself to the first workplace in the morning, eating according to the time of the day, minimizing caffeine use and exercising can also help treat the negative effects of losing an hour of sleep.
Mr. Morely added that sleep can be an effective way to cope with sleep deprivation – but there are some difficult and fast rules.
“The two golden dysfunction rule should be below an hour, so it must end between 20 minutes and 60 minutes and NAP must end six hours without planning to sleep again.”
“There is a chemical called adenosin, known as fatigue, and it takes about five to six hours to accumulate. So if you want to sleep at midnight, you have enough time to accumulate adenosin as long as your candy ends at 17:00 and you will be tired enough to go to bed.”
