GT’s Sudharsan, Gill & Buttler or Nothing Approach does not come to disturb them, 4 -game win streak vs lsg

Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler made 755 runs in 6 games. The next best scorer managed to get only 332 running.
Gujarat Titans (GT) hadn’t lost a match since March 25. But a middle-order collapse along with a strong batting performance from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has handed them their second defeat of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Put in to bat first, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan put on the first 100-run stand of the tournament.

GT’s epic middle-over collapse
Things were motoring along brilliantly. The run rate was over 10, and it looked like GT would jog on to score 200. But that’s when the biggest chink in their armour was exposed: their middle order. GT has been entirely dependent upon Gill, Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler for them to score runs in the IPL 2025 season so far.
Combined, they have scored 755 runs. The next eight scorers after them have amassed just 332 runs. That’s not even 30% of the total runs GT has hit in 6 matches. It’s been the top three or nothing. Sherfane Rutherford has done fine, but that’s about it. Against LSG, the three scored 132 runs from 89 balls. All the others scored 39 runs from 31 balls.
Gill and Sudharsan both departed, and GT was 122/2 after 13.1 overs. From there they lost just 4 wickets and yet scored only 58 runs. Only 180 were put on board when they looked primed to score at least 200. The bowling wasn’t much better. The decision to play just 3 overseas players didn’t go that well.

Pooran & Markram blast GT away
Rishabh Pant struggled for LSG, but some poor bowling combined with great hitting from Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran in particular had sealed the game by the halfway mark itself. LSG were 114/1 after 10 overs. By the 16th over both were in the hut, but the match was done.
However, GT were not done yet. They fought hard, looking to turn around. But GT shot themselves in the foot. David Miller’s run out was missed by Buttler, and Washington Sundar dropped impact substitute Ayush Badoni. GT might not have won anyway, but these chances helped LSG chase down the 181-run target in 19.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand and have gone to the third place on the IPL 2025 points table.
