‘Injured’ Axar Patel is fighting the pain, fans against KKR from the front

IPL 2025: Axar Patel, the captain of Delhi Capitals (DC), showcased immense grit and determination during their IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Despite suffering a painful hand injury while fielding in the 18th over, Axar returned to lead his team with remarkable resilience.

The injury occurred when Axar dived at full stretch to stop a ball, leaving him visibly in discomfort. He left the field for medical attention but later reappeared to bat, demonstrating his commitment to the team.

Axar’s valiant effort goes in vain

With KKR setting a challenging target of 204 runs, Axar’s leadership was pivotal. As a bowler, he had already made a significant impact, conceding just 27 runs in his four overs and claiming the crucial wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer. His tactical acumen and ability to perform under pressure were evident throughout the game.

When it was DC’s turn to chase, Axar came in to bat at a critical juncture. Despite his injury, he played some crucial shots, inspiring his teammates and fans alike. Patel was eventually dismissed after scoring 43 runs off just 23 balls by Sunil Narine.

Despite his efforts, Delhi failed to chase down the 200+ total given by KKR as the defending champs won the match by 14 runs.
