Jimmer Fredette, US President 3×3 Men’s Basketball

The US Basketball said on Thursday that Jimmer Fredette will lead the US 3×3 basketball team, and will be responsible for defining coaching staff and players in front of major international competitions.
In the world number 1 3×3 players, Fredet announced that he retired from basketball on April 23rd.
In BYU, Fredette was elected as a national player of the year before playing professionally in NBA, Europe and China in 2011. At the end of his career at the end of his career, the snapment moved to 3×3.
“When I got the call to play 3×3 from US basketball, I really didn’t know what to expect.” He said. “I quickly learned that I love the competition, energy and style of sports. 3×3 fits my game and personality. I have made friends who will be part of my life forever throughout my journey. I also saw the opportunity to enlarge sports in the USA.
“When the US basketball approached me about this role, I jumped to him. I am determined to help create a sustainable program for years, and ultimately the world’s best 3×3 program. I am very grateful to trust me with this responsibility for the US Basketball Board.”
As a player, there is a silver medal in the 2023 Pan American Games and 2022 FIBA 3×3 Men’s American as well as a silver medal in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Men’s World Cup. In 2024, he was a member of the first 3×3 Men’s Olympic team at the Paris Olympics, but a injury in the second match of the tournament took him out of the competition and the US failed in the medal.
3×3 basketball will return to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.
“Jimmer brought the legendary shooting style to 3×3 in 2022 and quickly became one of the most popular athletes on the peninsula,” Jim Toley, US Basketball CEO. He said. “Game knowledge and skill, the ability to lead and reputation as one of the best shooters of the game, to be the first person in this role and to help shape the US Basketball’s 3×3 men’s national team program on the way to Los Angeles.”
On Thursday, the US basketball named the same role for the US Women’s Basketball Team, retired WNBA Great and Olympic champion Sue Bird.
