Krishna for all ENG tests, most forms in Indian Melon

The height of Prasidh Krishna makes it compulsory in the XI of India for 5 UK tests
Prasidh Krishna is arguably in the best form of his life and India cricket team should capitalize on it in the upcoming series against England. With Bumrah and Shami all but certain to not play all five Tests, the team desperately needs a pacer who can be consistent and is a regular wicket-taker as well. And Krishna seems to be the right choice at the moment.

Krishna could be India’s X factor
Krishna had a memorable last outing, albeit in a losing cause, in the 5th Test against Australia. After being sidelined in the red-ball format for nearly a year, the Karnataka bowler picked up six wickets in the Sydney Test. To make the case for his inclusion stronger, he is the Purple Cap holder in IPL 2025, having picked 20 wickets in 11 matches, averaging 16.45.
Talking about Krishna’s record in Tests, he has only played three matches so far and has 8 wickets to his name. While two of it has come while playing in South Africa, the remaining six came in the only match that he played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
In first-class cricket, Krishna boasts of an impeccable record. He has 88 wickets to his name from just 24 matches, averaging 21.57.
Format | Mat | Inns | Balls | Runs | Wkts | Ave | Econ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Tests | 3 | 5 | 330 | 237 | 8 | 29.62 | 4.30 |
FC | 24 | 43 | 3626 | 1899 | 88 | 21.57 | 3.14 |
Besides his experience and form, India will also be benefited by Krishna’s height. After all, most venues in England are known to be pace-friendly. And it is no secret that England’s tall pacers make the most of the surface by using their height to generate bounce. Hence, India shouldn’t think twice about having Krishna in the playing XI for all matches, barring fitness concerns if any.
