LA28 organizers said in a statement on Thursday, the 2028 Summer Olympics will unite today with the past, as it will be the first host city to include two major stadiums in Los Angeles’s opening ceremony.

The legendary Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will not play the first role in three opening ceremony, but also the nearby Sofi Stadium in Inglewood will play a role in the detailed event on July 14, 2028.

Los Angeles also hosted the Coliseum and 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics, which is located just south of the city center in both years.

The Sofi Stadium has been home to NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers since its opening in 2020. The venue has already hosted a Super Bowl (2022) and College Football Playoff National Championship (2023).

The opening ceremony of the 2028 Paralympic Games will be held on Sofi Stadium on August 15th.

LA28 President Casey Wassman said in a statement, “The spaces selected for the 2028 opening and closing ceremonies will show Los Angeles’s rich sports history and the last future by exhibiting the best things that Los can offer on the world stage.” He said. “These two extraordinary places will create an unforgettable experience by inviting fans from around the world to an Olympic and Paralympic games, such as not before, and will result in what will fall as one of the most incredible games in history.”

Since the athletes will have the traditional components of the opening ceremony, such as the parade and torch lighting of the athletes, the details did not emerge, but there is a permanent torch that continues to be used during all activities in the place known as the best South California football.

While Sofi Stadium will be for swimming competitions, Coliseum will organize athletics events.

The closing ceremony for the Los Angeles Olympics will take place on July 30 and will be held only in Coliseum. The venue will also host the closing ceremony of paralympic games on August 27th.
