Major Endometriosis Study Gluten shows the effect of coffee, milk and alcohol | Endometriosis

In a new study, dietary changes may reduce endometriosis pain for half of the disease. The largest international research on diet and endometriosis, including 2,599 people, reported that 45% of those who quit eating gluten and 45% of those who cut dairy products experienced a improvement.

When women cut coffee or another caffeine in their diet, 43% said pain decreased and 53% of women who cut alcohol reported the same thing.

Philippa Saunders, a senior writer of the study at the University of Edinburgh and professor of reproductive steroid, thinks that we are at the top of something that is quite big by understanding how the diet affects endometriosis symptoms.

“If they think they can do something for themselves to deal with the pain of endometriosis, it is very important for women – this is a tremendous strengthening.”

Endometriosis occurs when cells similar to cells in the uterus grow in other parts of the body. It affects one of the 10 reproductive women in the UK.

However, there is little research on the causes of the disease or how to treat it-especially managing hormonal contraceptives, such as pills, which are only a short-term correction or that many women do not like because of side effects. It takes about seven years for women to diagnose endometriosis due to lack of awareness about the disease.

The new study, led by the University of Edinburgh and published in the American Medical Association’s Jama Network Open last week, asked volunteers about changes in diets and diet supplements used to improve their symptoms. Researchers believe that women who cut gluten or dairy products and report that they feel less pain may experience changes in intestinal bacteria.

Reducing caffeine may work because it can affect sleep, and when people are tired, pain usually feels worse. Cutting alcoholic beverages is potentially effective because alcohol has a similar effect on cells on cells – hormone that feeds endometriosis.

Endometriosis causes great pain in the pelvic region, which is usually worse during periods, but many patients reported pain, others experience breast pain or influenza -like joint pain affecting the whole body.

The uterine-like endometriosis tissue can grow new nerve cells-cells that transmit their sensations-and can more activate existing nerve cells. Almost one-third of women said that the pain of garlic and onion, which is called the “endo belly ,, has healed-that the unreasonable bloating may experience.

Experts say that people should consult their doctors before making dietary changes. Together with women who are randomly assigned to different diets, larger studies are needed to gather compelling evidence of how the diet can affect endometriosis, and may include inflammation and pain of people.

Edinburgh was based on self -reported pain levels and searched people from 51 countries, including 1,115 people from the UK.

Francesca Hearn-Yeates, who pioneered from the University of Edinburgh, said, “Women need anything that can help endometriosis pain. This is not very little investigated and there is a lot of things that intestinal bacteria can play a role in symptoms, and many women explain why and why they work.

“Refined sugars, carbohydrates, unhealthy oils, foods containing milk, red and processed meats… I recommend you to keep a food and symptom diary that will help to identify any food trijleyer that worsened symptoms such as constipation and bloating.”

Ying Professor of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Southampton said: “Although these self -reported benefits are promising, there is a need for more clinical research to verify the actual impact of certain diet changes.”

Dr. Nilufer Rahmioglu, a Senior Research Scientist at the Nuffield Women’s and Reproductive Health Department at the University of Oxford, said: ‘This study offers valuable information about the experiences of endometriosis individuals who investigate diet modifications and supplements to manage their pain.

“Although he cannot evaluate causality, the findings emphasize the need for more meticulous research about these potential hormonal strategies.”
