Toronto Maple Leafs has not yet determined the status of Anthony Stolarz's second round of playoff series against Florida Panthers.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, coach Craig Berube said that the team did not yet know whether Stolarz was shaking and refused to manage it for Wednesday's match.
TSN reported that Stolarz was helping the arena via a stretcher after Toronto's 5-4 victory on Monday and went to a local hospital. Stolarz has been released from the hospital since then and was at the team facility on Tuesday.
“I think it's going well. I will let the coach make any updates on this issue.” He said. “But in general, I liked it this morning when I had to see him for a smile at breakfast, so that's always good.”
Stolarz stopped eight of the nine shots before the second period, a few minutes after Sam Bennett, the center of Panthers, hit the back of his head with his elbow while he was skating. No penalty was given in the game.
Television cameras caught Stolarz in a bucket near Maple Leafs Bank before the team pulled it out of the game.
Joseph Woll has saved 17 in the first NHL match since April 17, but relieved three goals. If the stolarz cannot go, Maple Leafs will return to Woll in Game 2.
Bennett and Stolarz were teammates last season – Stolarz said Goaltanderdi No. 2 in a Florida squad who won the first Stanley Cup in the history of franchise.
“Stole is a good friend. I reached him. He replied,” Bennett said. “Obviously, you never want to see such an injury. From my point of view, I get a disk to the network.
Nevertheless, Berube called the elbow “Net as a day” and called on the league's player to investigate.
