Defense champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed Madhya Pradesh’s mysterious spinner Shivam Shukla on Sunday, instead of the rest of IPL 2025, the versatile Rovman Powell. The movement confirms that Powell will not return for the rest of the season due to medical problems with Moeen Ali from England. “Rovman is undergoing a procedure,” the IPL said in a statement because it continued on Saturday after the 2025 season has been suspended.
29-year-old Shukla played only a Syd Mushtaq Ali Trophy season with limited experience at the local level, and received eight small gates in many games, including 4-29 performances against Bengal. Recently, Madhya Pradesh made headlines in Premier League and finished as the best small door receiver with 10 scalp, including five small distances of the tournament.

KKR’s title defense ended early after a destruction against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, as IPL 2025 season was short of a short suspension due to border tensions on India-Pakistan.
However, the revised program came at a cost and could not be used for the rest of the season due to international tasks and personal reasons, and potentially impressed the team combinations in the Playoff race.
The demolition had a significant impact on the IPL 2025 points table. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reached the summit with 17 points from 12 games, leaving the Gujarat Titans (16 points from 11 matches) and Punjab Kings (15 out of 11 matches), but both Gujarat Titans and Punjab kings will still be a game in their hands.
KKR will later receive Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last league fixture at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 25th.
