PCB rejected former Pakistan Chief Coach Jason Gillespie’s unpaid claims

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to non-payment allegations made by former Pakistan cricket team head coach Jason Gillespie. The former Australian fast bowler took on the job of Test coach but resigned after a tumultuous eight months.

Gillespie accuses PCB of non-payment

In the aftermath, Gillespie has criticised PCB quite a bit. His latest claim was that he’d yet to be paid entirely for his work. Although he’d worked for no more than 8 months with Pakistan and it’d been 4 overs since he resigned, Gillespie has to be paid in full.

“Yeah, without going into the details, obviously still waiting on some remuneration for work that has been done. So just navigate through that in due course. Admittedly, that has been a little bit disappointing, but look, hopefully, that can get sorted sooner rather than later. So yeah, hopefully, that gets sorted as soon as possible,” Gillespie had said recently.

PCB hits back at ex-Test coach

This allegation has prompted the PCB to reply. The board has categorically denied any wrongdoing on their part. They claim that Gillespie hasn’t been paid in full because he broke the terms of the agreement of his contract. The Test head coach had to serve a 4-month notice period if he resigned.

Considering Gillespie didn’t do that, he won’t get his full payment. PCB also claims that the coach was aware of this. This could be seen as a way of saying that Gillespie disparaged the PCB on purpose.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues. The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms. The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it,” the PCB said in a statement.
