Why did BCCI make ROHİT Sharma, Kohli & Jadeja A+ Class Center Contracts despite the retirement of T20I?

Only four players were included in the A+ class of BCCI central contracts, Jasprit Bumrah became the only player in all formats for India.
On April 21, the Cricket Control Board (BCCI) in India announced the central conventions. There was no shock. Players like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have returned. Those who retired like Ravichandran Ashwin would be seen and some artists like Rishabh Pant were promoted.
BCCI’s contract rules
However, something stood out. Virat Kohli remained in the category of Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma A+. This was not logical. According to BCCI’s own rules, the highest category with the RS 7 Crore salary is reserved for players with automatic selection in all three formats for Indian Cricket Team.
However, all three large do not play all the formats. After the T20 World Cup won 2024, they announced that they retired from the T20Is in the triple collectively. Therefore, it is 2 format players. They should not be suitable for A+ contracts. So, why did BCCI incorporate them?
Why Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were given+ class contracts
According to the PTI, the Board announced that the contracts were given in October 2024 – September 2025 period, and therefore evaluating the performance from October 2023 to September 2024.
They did not retire from the T20Is until June 2024. Technically, they were entitled to receive BCCI A+ contract. That’s why it includes. With this logic, when the next annual contracts are announced, they will not be in the highest category.
“Fresh Center contract period from October 1 to 2024 to September 30, 2025. However, the year of evaluation was 1 October 2023-30 September 2024. Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja played the T20 World Cup final on June 2024, and therefore, all the format norms, for being in the category,” he says. BCCI stated the source.
