Abhishek Sharma returned to the uniform with a large chase of 246 runs.
Smash a century under pressure, and the fans will adore you. But hit the ton and dedicate to those fans, they will worship you. Abhishek Sharma did exactly that. After scoring 24, 6, 1, 2 and 18, Abhishek hit form and did that while chasing a record 246-run target against Punjab Kings. He smashed a 40-ball century in the SRH vs PBKS match, the 6th fastest in IPL history and the second fastest of IPL 2025. He ended up with 141 off 55 deliveries.
And as he hit his maiden IPL century, he brought out a note on a small sheet of paper, showing it to the fans. As the camera zoomed in, it revealed: This one is for Orange Army. He dedicated his century to those fans who stood by him through the years.
Later, his opening partner, Travis Head, revealed that Abhishek was carrying “the note in his pocket for 6 games”. But with his poor returns in those matches, he could never show it to the fans. But Abhishek made amends and finally got the chance to show it to the crowd.
Record-breaking night
Struggling for form, Abhishek Sharma came to the game lacking confidence. However, it never seemed that he was lacking confidence. The youngster survived two dropped catches. While he was caught in the deep when he was on 28 runs. But the bowler Yash Thakur stepped outside the crease, rendering it no-ball.
