Old-Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews Plans Return to NHL

After a two -year hiatus, former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews plans to play at NHL next season.

Toews, 37 -year -old, reported that his agent Pat Brisson was determined to attempt a return. Brisson confirmed the news to more than one media organizations on Thursday.

“Yes, 100 percent. Johnny feels great and we’re moving.”

Toews is considered a free agent and immediately negotiates with any of the 32 teams of the league. NHL Free Agency period opens on July 1.

Toews took Chicago to three Stanley Cup championship (2009-10, 2012-13, 2014-15) for six years. The 2009-10 Stanley Cup won Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs.

Manitoba, a native of Winnipeg, competed on the Canadian team in the 2010 and 2014 Olympics.

However, Toews came out of ice in February 2023, suffered from the effects of chronic immune response syndrome and long Covid and did not return to action.

Chicago did playoff in nine seasons (2009-17) in a row during the 15-year term of office, but since the 2019-20 campaign has not reached after the season.

Toews has 372 goals and 511 assists in 1,067 games. The General Election 3 in the 2006 draft was selected as one of the 100 best players of NHL since the first 100 seasons.
