The PBKS was perfect in IPL 2025 under Shreyas Iyer, where the team’s playoff qualifications are on the verge of playoff qualification.

PBKS are well on their way to IPL 2025 playoffs, after they registered their sixth win, after beating CSK. In the points table. they are on second position with 13 points, and perhaps need just one more win under their belt to progress to the next round. But what could come as a problem for Punjab could be, twin injuries to Lockie Ferguson and Glenn Maxwell.

Glenn Maxwell Replacement by PBKS Soon

It was only revealed on Wednesday, that the Aussie had suffered a finger fracture, and was ruled out of the tournament. And as per coach Ricky Ponting, there are no ready replacements available anywhere. “So we’ve actually been a little bit patient. Maxi’s only been a couple of days, Lockie’s has been two or three weeks. And with the PSL happening at the same time, there’s not a lot of high-quality replacements out there, to be honest.

Team Could Look at All-rounders

“So we’ve just been patient. We’re having a look around at Indian talent as well and we’re looking at what roles we might be able to fill with some younger Indian players,” said Ponting while addressing the media post the match. Having said that, Ponting went on to reveal that there are a couple of players who are training with the team, and a call could be taken on them soon.

“We’ll actually take a couple of guys to Dharamsala with us, a couple of guys trained with us yesterday and they will come with us to Dharamsala, we’ll have a closer look at them and they might find themselves with a Punjab contract going forward. It has to be this week, has to be before the 12th game, so stay tuned,” added Ponting.
