Mr. Williman hopes to collect £ 10,000 for the Ruth Strauss Foundation

A man whose wife dies of intestinal cancer is to take part in six months of running in six months while wearing cricket gears and driving a bat.

Richard Williman’s wife Erika, 51 -year -old East Yorkshire died in Pocklington in July 2022.

The difficulty will begin with the London Marathon in April and will end in September with the Ipswich half marathon.

A parent will collect money for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which supports families who lost cancer.

Mr and Mrs. Williman joined a virtual version of the London marathon in 2021

56 -year -old Mr. Williman will manage the Edinburgh Marathon in May, the Newcastle Half Marathon in July and will take part in Leeds in June and 10,000 runs in York in August.

Pads, cover, gloves and cricket whites, including the cricket equipment, he said.

He said, “I am a cricketist, I love the jack.”

“The kit I have is quite light outside the bat. The bat is really heavy.

“Maybe I will not be as fast as I want to be, but I haven’t been doing it for a while, I’m doing it to create discussion and awareness about the work of the foundation.”

The Ruth Strauss Foundation was founded in 2018 by former British cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss in memory of his wife who died of lung cancer.

Mr. Williman told one of the most difficult parts of his wife’s diagnosis and the death of his 24 -year -old children and 16 -year -old Alex.

He said: “Erika and I have always wanted to take advantage of the tragedy, and to do so if a family learns only one person or a child foundation and gets the support they need for their development, work is done for me.”

In 2024, Mr. Williman ran 10km a day for 145 days and covered 950 miles (1,529km).
