Porsche 911 GTS is going hybrid: everything you need to know about T-Bibrid

  • Porsche says 911 GTS is the world’s most desired sports car resistant to the future.
  • Porsche has shown that electrification can only be a tool to increase excitement rather than increasing productivity.
  • The new 911 Carrera GTS Coupé starts at $ 381.200.

Porsche has raised the legendary 911 basically and the good news is a hybrid at the moment. Why is this good news? Because the Prius or Camry style we’re talking about is not hybrid. Instead, it collects this wall, extra performance lemans 24 hours or formula 1 hybrid.

This 992.2 generation update is not related to fuel savings. Instead, adding performance and according to Porsche, the world’s most desirable sports car is related to “future rehearsal ..

Porsche calls his system ‘T-Hybrid’ and says he is inspired by Motorsport technology. It is not going too far to claim that it represents a performance revolution. For now, the system is only available in Carrera GTS, the highest performance of 911. However, considering how difficult this GTS is, this technology helps us (and Porsche’s opposition) to the 911 turbo family.

Devil in details. Here is everything you need to know about the new Porsche 911 GTS and the company’s most iconic model.

Performance first

The 911 Carrera GTS offers a super light performance hybrid system that emphasizes performance and dynamics rather than fuel economy.

There are two electric motors in the center of this system – sandwich between the engine and the transmission and the other is electrically reinforced turbocharger. Traditional Turbolar requires exhaust gases to rotate the turbine wheel before printed pressure structures (this is what most of us know as turbo delay). T-Hybrid’s electrical turbocharger places this with an electric motor that is completely between the turbo compressor and the turbine wheel.

Like Le Mans racer. Picture: Porsche

The engine can accelerate turbocharger instantly and provide printed pressure from the moment you press the accelerator. However, it performs another task that functions as an energy recovery system that prevents excessive strengthening (GTS has the waste gate of the turbocharger) and the exhaust gas flows from the exhaust gas flow to 11kW to charge the sooting light battery.

Electric strengthening and zero delay also mean that Turbo itself can be much larger, which makes the brand new engine never end without puff.

The boxer engine grows

However, Turbo is not the only electric motor in the new Porsche 911 GTS. Like a Le Mans Racer, the new 911 also has a sandwich engine between 911 flat under gasoline engine and brand new eight -speed dual -clutch PDK transmission.

This motor provides instant torque and power, especially to help the engine from low speeds. The term here is the ‘torque fill’ and thus the engine can rise up to 150nm from empty speed and add up to 40kW in the Rev range.

The performance can literally turn your head. Picture: Porsche

The T-Hibride system matches the engine with a brand new, larger capacity but more compact and lower 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer motor. It comes as it should be (partly thanks to smart sound synthesis), half of a motor capacity, and when combined with e-boost, a very impressive 398kW and 610 nm offers more than 60hp on the GTs.

And take it from me: Numbers do not make the car’s performance justice. Do you remember this instant extra 150nm? This makes its existence feel in the real world, and greatly improves the acceleration of the gear.

0-100km/s Standing Standing Standing The beginning was improved. In just 3.0 seconds, the rear -traxed GTS is about half a second faster than the car it replaces, and the last generation matches the Porsche 911 Turbo S with the Four -wheel drive 911 Turbo S, when combined with launch control, the performance can literally turn your head.

Hybrid without heeft

One of the biggest concerns about hybrid systems is weight – batteries and electric motors are very heavy. But this is a Porsche! Net weight weight was kept as approximately 50kg.

All parts of the transfer bodies are optimized. There is an electric Aircon system and no starting engine -theboost engine plays this role.

Porsche also developed a high -voltage battery that fits the size and weight of the traditional 12 volt starting battery while storing 1.9 kWh energy and working at 400 volts. Even a 12 -volt battery itself is a light lithium ion racing style effort.

Smarter usage

Thanks to the minimum weight change, the legendary road and racing runway of Porsche 911 is not affected by the addition of GTS’s T-Bibrid system. However, Porsche was not based on racing grown laurels.

GTS comes as standard with its rear axle steering for the first time. At high speeds, this increases the stability by directing the rear wheels in the same direction as the facades, while lower speeds, at lower speeds, reducing the rotation circle against the rear wheels.

Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) Roll Anti-Stabilization System is offered and thanks to the 400V network of the new 911 GTS, the electro-hydraulic control system can move stronger and faster to move faster and faster. Combined with adaptable dampers and lower driving height, GTS is ready for something shorter than real race…

Look more closely, different

The iconic lines of Porsche 911 appear unchanged. However, this new 992.2 generation barely shares a panel with outgoing cars.

Above the buffer line, the nose was planted for the old match of the 911s. The back was also set to offer a more traditional silhouette. Under the bumper in front of the bumper, the active cooling air wings defines a ‘new modern’ feeling and completed with under -the -fits under the adaptable body.

When cooling requirements are minimal, closed caps optimize aerodynamics. When the demand increases, especially in high -performance driving scenarios, the wings direct the large amount of air to the car’s radiators. An optional aero kit contains a more aggressive front spoiler, threshold panels and GT -style fixed rear wing. A good -looking plugin. You can expect GTS receivers to mark more than a fair share of this option box.

Special scanning

Of course, no new model update land without a significant upgrade in the connection and screen real estate – 911 is not an exception.

The connection has been developed with a QR code that simplifies entering the Porsche Communication Management System. Apple Carplay integration is deeper than ever.

However, the most significant change is that the indicator panel goes to a full virtual representation with multiple screen mode, including the classic five dial Porsche staple. There is no doubt that there are additional functions and some buyers will welcome the extra digitization of this important car driver interface, this is a very distant step for me. For the outgoing 992.1 series 911, partially digital, partly analog indicators were better.

The rest of the range

Although mechanical changes in the standard Porsche Carrera and Carrera T variants are less wide, the updates given to models in this generation change are still valuable.

The cooking model Carrera now has a renewed 3.0 -liter twin turbo boxer engine that produces 290kW and 450nm. One of the key changes is the adoption of a highest level of refrigerant, just like Hero 911 turbo models. The same style and connection changes give the most affordable 911s a new look and feel.

Ker-effing-ching

Porsche is good to indicate that the affordable price is a relative term. The new 911 Carrera GTS Coupé starts at $ 381.200, while the standard 911 Carrera Coupé is almost $ 100,000 less than $ 280.500. 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé’s $ 401,300 and 911 Targa 4 GTS 437.900 priced four -wheel drive, targa and convertible options are also available.

Porsche is an affordable relative term when it comes to. Picture: Porsche

Australian buyers will find new 911 models with generously equipped 911 models compared to markets such as England and the United States, and standard features such as active parking support, lane exchange assistant, comfort access and Bose surround sound system in all variants. GTS contains expensive options such as steering wheel, adaptable suspension, and a number of other features as standard.

Porsche says that this 911 generation is the most customized generation so far – you can probably change. Deliveries for all models in Australia are expected in the first quarter of 2025.

Electricity for improved performance

The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS represents one step change in the evolution of the iconic sports car. Porsche could only show that he had stepped on a big time here to meet green interests. But not.

Porsche has shown that electrification can only be a tool to increase excitement instead of increasing productivity, by including hybridization to improve the character of 911. The focus of the T-Thefride system on the response, power distribution and processing, even shows Porsche’s commitment to protecting the status of 911 as a comparative sports car, even if the automotive technology shifts to electrification.

For enthusiasts, this may be the most compelling argument, but the electric future of the driving can be as exciting as its strong past.
