PSL supports Babar, the owner of the team, to be larger than Kohli on the return.

PSL claimed that Babar Azam, owner of franchise Karachi Kings, will soon be matched with legends like Richards and Sobers
PSL franchise Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal has claimed that Babar Azam will overshadow Virat Kohli once he makes a comeback. His remarks come amid the Peshawar Zalmi captain’s poor scores in the ongoing PSL 10. Babar has only managed to score 0 and 1 in two games so far in the tournament.

“Babar will be matched with Sobers, Richards”
Speaking on ARY podcast, the PSL team owner claimed that Babar would be a bigger player than any other star on making his comeback. Iqbal claimed that the former Pakistan captain would then be compared to legends like Sir Vivian Richards and Gary Sobers.
“I am telling you. Mark my words, when Babar Azam makes a comeback again, he will be a bigger player than any other player in the world, including Virat Kohli. He will be matched with names likes Garry Sobers and Sir Viv Richards,” Iqbal said.
Azam hasn’t had a great run in white-ball cricket over the past two years. He failed to fire at consecutive ICC events including the ODI World Cup 2023, T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025. While he did manage to score a couple of half-centuries in the ODI series against New Zealand, his poor form returned to haunt him in the first two PSL 10 matches.
“He has that class element. When someone has class…. Class is permanent, you can’t change that. Style is always permanent. He will come back…he will come back with a bang,” the Karachi Kings owner added.
Babar was a part of Karachi Kings before he moved to Peshawar Zalmi. He now captains the new side in PSL.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli already has 248 runs to his name from six matches in IPL 2025. He averages a mind-boggling 62.00 in the ongoing league.
