Report: Famu hires Charlie Ward as a men’s coach

In his statement on Wednesday, ESPN concludes an agreement to hire Charlie Ward, the former Heisman Trophy winner of Florida A & M as a men’s basketball coach.
Ward 54-year-old Ward played football and basketball in Florida between 1990-94 and won a national championship and Heisman in 1993 as a seminoles player in 1993 before playing at the NBA between 1994-2005.
Since 2018, Ward has been coaching at high school ranks since 2007 with Florida State University Schools in Tallahassee.
Florida A&M in Tallahassee finished 14-17 in 2024-25 in the first season within the scope of Coach Patrick Carey II, who was reserved for a coaching position at Grambling State. Ratts, SWAC members, has not been going to the NCAA tournament since 2007.
In 1994, New York’s first round election Ward, Knicks (1994-2004), San Antonio Spurs (2004) and Houston Rockets (2004-05) and 630 career NBA matches made an average of 6.3 points and 4.0 assists.
In 1993, Ward won the awards in addition to Maxwell, Walter Camp, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Davey O’Brien and James E. Sullivan in addition to Heisman. Florida state retired the number 17 football jersey.
In the basketball court, Ward played 91 games for seminoller and received an average of 8.1 points, 4.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.
