Report: PWHL to add Vancouver as the first expansion club

According to Athletic Friday, the professional female hockey league will add an expansion club in the 2025-26 season and all signs that the team will land to Vancouver.

A news conference is planned on Thursday of the week and the organizers are mocking a “historical announcement at the British Columbia Sports”. Province and Vancouver city officials are expected to participate.

PWHL was released in 2024 with six clubs, and the addition of vancouver will represent the beginning of the expansion to the west. Charter teams are the Boston fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Otawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres.

“We continue to conclude decisions about expansion and we are looking forward to sharing more details soon.” He said.
