The new work, which has not yet been published but will be presented at the Spring Meeting of the American Chemical Association (ACS), reveals how the team looks at the effect of incorporating ultramarine blue by creating 20 dust foundations in both darker and lighter tones.

The researchers used a spectrophotometer using the color of dust and visually evaluated them both on private paper and when applied to the internal forearms of the participants.

Baki added that ultramarin helps the creation of different sub -shades, both darker and lighter foundations, but it may be a transformative for the first one because it reduces gray casting.

“Based on our research, we recommend that you combine black iron oxide and ultramarine blue. However, ultramarine blue can be used as a dark pigment.

“For a very dark skin color, ultramarine blue may not be enough to match the skin tone value of consumers, because it creates lighter foundations compared to black iron oxide at the same percentage. If a dark color needs to be created, combining black and blue can only provide a skin -like color than black iron oxide.”

The study provides examples of how to create more inclusive basic lines for consumers. “Ultramarine blue should be added to the foundations of all shades to expand the sub -shades for the same shade and to create more skin -like basic tones,” he said.
