Rishabh Pant plays an important role in LSG’s slowing down to CSK, helping to plant 6000 trees in 7 sea

7 at sea (10-17), LSG only 43 jogging. This is despite their losing 1 small door.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have ended up scoring 166 runs against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The total seems fine considering the pitch at the Ekana Cricket Stadium helped spinners rule the roost.

However, what it doesn’t show is how much LSG batters struggled. The home team was 78/3 after 10 overs. By then, only three overs were bowled by spinners. Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad had combined taken 1 wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. They bowled well, but LSG captain Rishabh Pant was set.

Jadeja and Noor Ahmad choke LSG

The wicketkeeper batter was set as 28 (17). And Ayush Badoni who’d just joined his captain was batting at 5 (3). You’d think LSG would score 100 runs with ease. Well, in the next seven overs. CSK choked LSG. Jadeja and Noor bowled 4 of these overs, giving away just 12 runs.

In these seven overs, Badoni was dimissed for 22 (17) by Jadeja. But the most shocking things was that Pant scored just 12 runs in 22 balls. Yes, you heard it right. He played 12 dots in this period. Helping the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) initiative of playing 500 tress per dot ball in the IPL 2025 season.

MS Dhoni’s miscalculation

LSG did score 45 runs in the last 3 overs, brining themselves back into the game. But CSK captain MS Dhoni takes the blame for it. He misjudged the conditions and dropped Ravichandran Ashwin to bring in Jamie Overton, who was hit for 24 runs in 2 overs. Dhoni didn’t complete Jadeja’s quota of overs either.

Khaleel Ahmed who bowled the 19th over went for 16 runs. Jadeja could have done better. And might have picked a wicket in the process as well.
