RR replaces the wounded Sandeep Sharma, with two matches in IPL 2025 with two matches

With just two matches left in their IPL 2025 campaign, a down and out RR have announced an injury replacement for fast bowler Sandeep Sharma. The team has roped in South African pacer Nandre Burger, and the announcement was made on Thursday. Sandeep had picked up a finger injury after playing 10 matches in the season, and had picked 9 wickets and an economy of 9.89.

It is to be reminded, that Burger had made his IPL debut last year, with the same franchise, but this time went unsold with a base price of 1.25 Cr. In his campaign, in the six matches, he had picked up 7 wickets at an average of 8.52. But this time he comes at a hefty price of 3.5 Cr.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only injury that has hurt RR this season. Earlier, Nitish Rana also suffered an injury and South African Lhuan-dre Pretorius was bagged at a base price of INR 30 lakh. Rajasthan have been poor in 2025 and are languishing at the 9th spot in the points table. Out of 12 played, they have only won three and faced defeat in nine.

Now on May 12, they face CSK in Chennai and then on May 16, they play PBKS at home. While the campaign might be over for them, these replacements only show that the team is ready to make amends before the next IPL Auction comes.
