If there was any doubt about Sai Sudharsan making it to the India squad for the England series; he has dispelled them all as the southpaw opener struck a 56-ball ton for GT, while chasing 200 against DC on Sunday. The orange cap holder of the current season, the 23-year-old played a near-perfect innings that included no risks, 12 fours and four sixes, to take his team home, and also help GT qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
This second ton in IPL, his first this season, also made a strong statement, that he will most likely be a part of the playing XI, for the first Test in Headingly vs England, starting June 20. Meanwhile, despite the steep target, Sai Sudharsan never looked out of control, or in the need to hit extravagant shots, that showed his true class. Eventually, he finished with 108 unbeaten, against his name.
